Ben Jones Scholarship Application
The Ben Jones Scholarship is dedicated to promoting diversity in the arts.  The scholarship is awarded to high school students ages 16+ to take an adult Yard School or workshop.  The scholarship covers tuition and art supplies needed for the class.  

Please complete and return application and nomination forms by March 10, 2023.  Applicants will be notified the week of April 3rd.  Spring semester begins week of April 10th and classes run for 8 weeks.  

Ben Jones

Ben Jones is an artist, activist, and educator, who uses his art to bring awareness to the plight of humanity throughout the world. A native of Paterson, NJ, Ben Jones co-founded the African American Cultural Committee at MAM forty years ago. His artwork is in the Museum’s collection and his mural, Envision Empower Embrace, was exhibited in 2018–2019. The Ben Jones Scholarship was established to honor the artist’s life-long commitment to youth art education and diversity in the arts.

Tom Joyner Foundation "Full Ride" Scholarship

The Tom Joyner Foundation "Full Ride" Scholarship awards a full scholarship to one student to attend a Historically Black College and University (HBCU). The scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors with high academic records.

To qualify, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or above, SAT score of 2100 or higher, and ACT score of 30 or above. The scholarship covers all tuition expenses such as tuition, room and board, books and fees. The scholarship is renewable for up to 10 semesters, making it a full-ride scholarship for one deserving student.

Cooke College Scholarship

Cooke College Scholarship is open to high school seniors who are planning to attend a four-year accredited undergraduate school. Eligible students may pursue any area of study.

Candidates must have excellent academics, including a GPA of 3.5 or above, SAT combined critical reading and math score of 1200 or above, and/or ACT composite score of 26 or above. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need.

Apple HBCU Scholarship Program

The Apple HBCU Scholarship Program is offered to eligible college students who are in their final year of college at a HBCU institution. Eligible students include those who are majoring in Computer Science, Information Science/Technology, Mathematics, and/or Engineering.

Candidates must be currently juniors with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3. They must also have specific skills, such as the ability to analyze information and express ideas, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to grasp new concepts. One year scholarships will be awarded to 30 selected students.

Microsoft Research Women's Fellowship

Microsoft Research Women's Fellowship is open to full-time female students pursuing studies toward a Ph.D. Eligible courses of study include computer science, electrical engineering, or mathematics.

Eligible female students may attend a college or university in the U.S. or Canada. The scholarship covers one year of study and includes a stipend that will cover travel expenses to a conference in the fellowship recipient’s field of study.

Coca-Cola Scholars Program

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program is a very competitive program for high school seniors throughout the United States. Sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company, the largest soft drink company in the world, the program awards millions every year in college funding.

Applicants must be current high school (or home-schooled) seniors, must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents, must be planning to pursue a degree at an accredited university or college, and must have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the end of their junior year of high school.

Jerry Greenspan Student Voice of Mental Health Award

Jerry Greenspan Student Voice of Mental Health Award is awarded every year to a college student who is reducing prejudice around mental illness, raising awareness of mental health issues on campus, or encouraging more peers to seek help for mental health.

The purpose of the scholarship is to raise more awareness of mental health among students, and to reward outstanding students who are actively involved in speaking out about mental health on campuses, reducing prejudice that often surrounds emotional disorders, and raising visibility about the disease.

ABPA Harrington/Arthur Memorial Scholarship

ABPA Harrington/Arthur Memorial Scholarship is open to high school students between the ages of 13-20. Students may enter by completing an essay on how to ensure safe drinking water.

The purpose of the scholarship is to increase knowledge and understanding of how Cross-Connection Control and Backflow Prevention help ensure safe drinking water. Backflow prevention ensures safe drinking water by preventing dangerous and even fatal bacteria, chemicals and other harmful agents from entering water supply systems in communities.

ESA Foundation Scholarship Program

ESA Foundation Scholarship Program offers scholarships to eligible women and minority students who are pursuing degrees leading to careers in Computer & Video Game Arts. The scholarships are for full-time undergraduate students attending accredited four-year colleges and universities in the U.S., and high school seniors who are already accepted into college.

Up to 30 scholarships are awarded every year, 15 to graduating high school seniors and 15 to current college students. Applicants must be women or minority students maintaining a GPA of 2.75 or above.

LULF Scholarship

LULF Scholarship is offered to Latino/Hispanic undergraduate and graduate students attending a four-year college. Undergraduate students must have completed at least one year of schooling, and graduate students at least one semester, prior to applying for a scholarship.

All candidates must have a minimum cumulative GPA above 2.80 in order to apply. They must reside in the U.S. and be full-time students. Eligible students may apply online by completing an application and including an official university-issued academic transcript and a letter of recommendation from a university administrator, faculty or community leader.

TicketCity Annual College Scholarship Program

TicketCity Annual College Scholarship Program is open to students who are already enrolled as full-time Freshman, Sophomores, or Juniors at an accredited 4-year college or university in the United States. One student is selected each year to receive a scholarship.

To apply, students must write a 400-700 word essay that describes why sporting events and game-day traditions are an important part of the university culture. Eligible applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or above and have completed 12 hours at an accredited 4-year university. One entry per person is allowed.

United States Senate Youth Program

The United States Senate Youth Program is open to outstanding high school students interested in pursuing careers in public service. High school juniors and seniors may apply.

The unique program combines a scholarship, along with an intensive week-long educational experience in Washington, D.C., where students receive an in-depth view of the Senate and the federal government. The program is for exceptional students, and candidates are selected by state officials. Interested students may apply through their high school principals, guidance counselors and social studies teachers; they may also apply through state-level official web sites.

Patriot's Pen Essay Writing Contest

Patriot's Pen Essay Writing Contest is open to students in grades 6-8 who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial school or home study program in the United States and its territories.

The national first-place winner wins a scholarship and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. Each year the essay topic changes; all essays are on patriotic topics and are limited to 300-400 typewritten words. Candidates may submit one essay per year. Essays must be the original work of the student.

Newton D. Becker Scholarship Program

Newton D. Becker Scholarship Program is available to accounting students and professionals who are planning to prepare for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exam. Scholarship awards are given every year from February through June.

The annual scholarship program offers financial assistance to deserving students and professionals to prepare for the CPA Exam. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and have strong leadership qualities as well as a commitment to their communities. They must also be either U.S. citizens or residing in the U.S. for education purposes.

Cleveland Browns Foundation/ Marion Motley Scholarship

The Cleveland Browns Foundation/ Marion Motley Scholarship will award two deserving students with four-year scholarships. Applicants must be seeking careers in either a professional sports organization or in education.

Eligible students must be high school juniors who plan to enroll in a two- or four-year college. Candidates must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 through their junior year in high school and a score of 18 on the ACT or 860 on the SAT.
